A confirmed case of West Nile in Glendale Heights

Good afternoon everyone,

We were informed by the Dupage County Health Department that there was a confirmed case of West Nile Virus from an adult male in his 60’s located on the East side of Glendale Heights off of Glen Ellyn Road (Near the East Branch Forest Preserve).  We have put out an official statement about it but no one is at immediate risk.  From our contacts and research, it’s a small percent of people who actually become ill if they have the virus and most people have the virus and aren’t even affected.  But could you all please share the information post by the Village via Facebook?  And of course, if any parents have any questions or concerns, please direct them to the Health Department or I can field their questions as well.  Here is our official statement:

According to the DuPage County Health Department, there has been one reported case of West Nile Virus on the East Side of Glendale Heights near the East Branch Forest Preserve. Residents should not be alarmed but as always, we urge everyone to protect themselves from mosquito bites especially younger children and older adults. The vast majority of people who become infected with West Nile virus never know it and never suffer any symptoms. For more information, please contact the DuPage County Health Department at 630.682.7400 or visithttp://www.dupagehealth.org/aboutwnv.

Thank you!
